Our boat is a Bennington 2575 RFSi, which was imported from the United States especially for this use. One reason for choosing it is because access to the boat is almost level and so it's easy for anyone in a standard wheelchair (help is always on hand if needed).
The Americans call this type of boat a 'pontoon boat' because the very first ones were little more than a few large planks of wood attached to two aluminium tubes, or pontoons. Folk would bring the sofa out of the house and sit it on the pontoon, stick a little outboard engine on the back and head off for a trip down the river - the pontoon boat becoming known as 'the floating sofa'.
They have come a long way since then and Bennington are the 'Rolls Royce' of pontoon boat makers. Our boat will seat 12 adults in real comfort - plus the skipper. She is open topped, offering a truly wonderful feeling of space and freedom, all in a safe and secure, quiet and luxurious setting.
If you charter the boat for a special occassion you are welcome to bring your own food and drinks on board. The boat is equipped with a CD/mp3 player.
