Yacht Club public trip - 11:00, 11:30, 13:00 and then every 30 minutes to close
We set off around the back of Bird Island for a close up of the water-birds and then out across Overton Lake past the fish refuges.  Entering Kingfisher Cut you will have your best chance in the whole Park of seeing a Kingfisher!  At the River Nene we head downstream past Thorpe Wood Golf Course (designed by Peter Alliss) to the entrance to Peterborough Yacht Club.  Here you will see some of the narrowboats and cruisers as we come about for our return journey.

Trip Time: approx 25 minutes

Milton Ferry Bridge public trip - once per day at 12:00 - booking on day recommended
We take the Yacht Club route as far as the River Nene, where this time we turn to head upstream.  Here the river is at its most beautiful with large overhanging trees on one bank and open meadow on the other.  We pass a couple of sculptures and pretty seating areas in Bluebell Woods as the river meanders towards the Osier beds.  With our final right hand sweep the magnificent Milton Ferry Bridge appears in front of us.

Overton Lake public trip - may sometimes run instead of the above for operational reasons
You may have walked around Overton Lake many times, but trust us, you will view it completely differently from out on the water.  Get a real close up of the water-birds on Bird Island and the Cormorants out at the Fish Refuges.  Watch out for the young coots, moorhens, mallards and cygnets in and around the banks, reeds and overhangs - you won't see them this closely from on the shore.  Then, as we turn at the 'Rickety Bridge' you will appreciate the full majesty of the lake.

The FAST One
The FAST One is available as an optional extra on all Charters and occasionally on Public Trips when all passengers request it (typically this is at quieter times with fewer passengers on board or where most or all passengers are part of a larger group.)  At the end of our standard trip or charter The FAST One gives you two flat out runs up and down the centre of Overton Lake.  It's a real taste of the 'high life' - have a look at the video on our Videos Page.

The FAST One Supplement:
Option on Charters at £10 per charter extra
Option on Public Trips at £1 per person extra

Private and Corporate Charters
You can charter the boat with crew, for your own exclusive use, on any day and at any time throughout the season.  If your group is larger than 12 we can run a number of trips within your charter period.

It's a great experience for family, friends or colleagues, particularly for a special occasion or as a treat or for corporate events of all types - from team building to conferences, from socials to branch meetings.  On 2 hour or longer charters you can bring a picnic and some wine if you wish, or we can arrange various food options with the on-site cafes or through our own catering suppliers.

You are also welcome to bring along your favourite CDs or we can provide music to your taste - just ask!

For larger groups, why not build your event around a number of trips during the day: there is so much else to do at Ferry Meadows you can easily spend the whole day here.

There is no booking form to complete and no deposit is required.  The boat is open top and so if the weather is poor on the day, call us on 07808 167887 at least 2 hours before departure to cancel and owe nothing.

All charters must finish by Sunset.

Charter Prices:
On Operating Days:
        09:00 to 11:00        £40 per hour
11:00 to 13:00        £50 per hour (£30 per half hour)
13:00 to 16:00        £60 per hour (£40 per half hour)
16:00 to sunset        £70 per hour

On non-operating days:
09:00 to sunset        £70 per hour

Our Charter Routes
Our routes are tailored to your charter times and wishes and we are always happy to discuss how to make the best of the time you have.  For example, an hour on the lake is a great experience if you would like any children (or adults!) to have a go driving the boat under instruction from our qualified Skipper, or if we are running a number of trips for your group.

Or we can travel for as long as you wish out of the Park and onto the River Nene.  Again for example, one hour will get us up to Milton Ferry Bridge and then back downstream to the yacht Club. A two hour charter offers continuous cruising upstream to Alwalton Lock and then downstream to Orton Lock and takes in some glorious landscapes.  More than 2 hours requires passage through a lock, which takes about 20 minutes each way.  From Ferry Meadows to the City Centre and return requires a 3 hour charter.

Don't forget you can get a taste of our various trips by visiting our Videos Page.

Please, though, do always bear in mind that the keyword for us is 'flexible'!  If you don't see exactly what you want please call and we will do all we can to accommodate you and your party and what you want to acheive.

All trips and charters depart from our moorings in Ferry Meadows Country Park.  There is so much to do at Ferry Meadows, it makes a really great day out.  For more information about other attractions, please visit our Information Page.

Public Trips
'Turn Up and Go' public trips depart regularly on Operating Days (weather permitting).  The boat will seat 12 persons in real comfort; so if yours is quite a large group, why not think about Charter Hire - available from as little as £30?

Our 'Milton Ferry Bridge' special normally runs once a day, and then our usual public trip is the 'Yacht Club' route, but sometimes we may substitute the 'Overton Lake' route for operational reasons.  We also try to accommodate requests for a particular route - so please ask!
