If you are planning a marriage, or a civil partnership, or a renewal of vows ceremony
and you want something a little special and a little unusual, then maybe we can help. 

We've even arranged a surprised marriage proposal on board!

For your ceremony or Reception, The Ramada Hotel is fully licensed and is the only venue in Peterborough with direct access to the River Nene, only a few yards walk away.

A channel leads from the river to a small lake next to the Hotel with its own landing stage - and this gives you lots of opportunities.

You can, for example
  • arrive by water at the hotel for the ceremony or for the reception
  • leave the hotel by boat for your honeymoon
  • run boat trips throughout the reception or between the afternoon and evening receptions.
There are several boarding points locally at which you can start or finish your trip and guests can line the banks and landing areas around the hotel as you arrive or leave.  You can find information about the Ramada here. 

If the Ramada is not for you, there are many churches and licensed venues close enough to the River to make a boat trip a special part of your special day, and we can start and finish from The Embankment in the city centre.  Our moorings are right next to the fabulous Riva Restaurant and Bar and its al fresco dining area makes a great base for guests if you want to run boat trips.   Several city centre venues are only a short walk or taxi ride away and include The Town Hall, The Bull Hotel, Peterborough United Football Club, The Great Northern Railway Hotel, Orton Hall Hotel, Holiday Inn and Thorpe Hall.  A full list of Licensed Civil Ceremony Venues is available on the Peterborough City Council website

Wherever you start from, a boat trip is great entertainment.  For larger groups we can run a number of short trips or for smaller groups of up to 12 people, where perhaps you plan no formal Reception, why not charter the boat for a leisurely river cruise?  On 2 hour or longer charters you can bring a picnic and some wine if you wish, or we can arrange various food options through our own catering suppliers.  You are welcome to bring along your favourite CDs or we can provide music to your taste - just ask!

Whatever your idea, we will try to make it work for you, so do please give us a call to discuss it.  There is no booking form to complete and no deposit is required.  The boat is open top and so if the weather is poor on the day and you prefer to cancel, call us on 07808 167887 at least 2 hours before departure and owe nothing.

We do need to return to our base before dark and so all charters must finish 30 minutes before sunset.

Wedding Charter Rates
£100 per hour, which includes a supplement to cover our time and fuel costs getting to and from your start point.
